What goes into a garage epoxy system?
A proper garage floor is built in layers, not painted in one coat. We grind the concrete open, fill cracks and pits, roll a primer that soaks into the slab, add a pigmented base coat, and finish with a hard clear topcoat. A lot of homeowners have us throw colored flake into the base coat for texture and color.
How do we get the slab ready?
Prep is what makes the coating last. Diamond grinders with vacuums attached take off old sealer, paint, and the weak top skin of the concrete. Grinding concrete throws fine silica dust, which is why our dust collection runs the whole time. OSHA's crystalline silica page explains why that matters.
After grinding we fill cracks, patch chipped spots, and test for moisture. On hillside lots, groundwater can push moisture up through an older slab, so we test before we pick a primer.
Why coat a garage floor here?
Fayetteville sits up in the Ozark hills, so garages get humid summers, real freeze-thaw winters, and the odd ice storm that sends road salt and sand in on the tires. With the university in town, plenty of garages double as bike rooms, storage for rental houses, or a staging area for game-day gear. A sealed floor keeps dust down, keeps salt and oil from soaking in, and makes the space more useful.
What changes the price?
- Size. One-, two-, and three-car garages are priced by the square foot.
- Old coatings. Peeling paint or a store kit takes extra grinding to remove.
- Cracks and pitting. More patching means more labor and material.
- Topcoat. A polyaspartic topcoat costs more than an epoxy clear coat but holds up to sunlight and cures faster.

Garage floor epoxy FAQs
Does the garage need to be empty?
Yes. We grind wall to wall, so everything has to come out. Most people move things to the driveway or a shed for a couple of days.
Will the cracks disappear?
We fill cracks before coating, so they are far less noticeable. Flake hides them best. A crack that is still moving can show again over time.
Can you do the steps into the house?
Yes. Steps and the apron at the door are common add-ons, priced with the floor.
